During our research, some questions arose concerning the best practices of an eCommerce website. What are the conventions, what works best? So, in order to better understand this, we studied this topic. Here are some insights from that:
- The search bar should be present in all pages
- The footer should contain contact information and something about the company
- The category page should clearly display products in rows
- Navigation and filters need to be clear on all pages
- Product page should display customer reviews
- Product page needs to include compelling and informative product copy and high quality, vibrant images
- Call-to-action buttons should be large, big, bold, and contrast-in-color
- eCommerce websites with simple and clean designs have higher conversion rates
- Providing easily accessible customer service is essential
- Focus on responsive design extremely important
- Navigation needs to be intuitive. More than three-quarters of consumers say that the most important factor in a website’s design is that it's easy for them to find what they want.
