The client: VLI is a Brazilian company that offers logistics solutions that integrate ports, railways and terminals.
The briefing: VLI has been using the same circulation, cargo and route control software, called UNILOG, since 2004. It hasn't gone through updates or improvements in that time, so itβs a very outdated system that doesn't meet current demands. The company hired a digital transformation consultancy to review its processes and build a brand new system.
My role: I worked on the project as a UX Researcher during the Discover phase of the project. Besides me, the team was comprised of a UI Designer, an Architectural Analyst, a Process Analyst, two Quality Assurance Analysts, a SCRUM Master, a Project Manager and an Agile Coach. The Project Owners in the client's side were also active participants.
Key research questions and areas:
1. What are notable behaviours, preferences and barriers that impact usage of the system?
2. Identify needs and opportunities to inform the product design strategy.
3. Observe and understand usersβ current navigation patterns.
